Week commencing 26 July is the busiest week for Q2 earnings results, with announcements expected for the following; Raytheon Technologies, Alphabet, Ebay, AMD, 3M, Tesla, Spotify, Microsoft, Pfizer, Barclays, Amazon, Facebook, Merck, Apple, Lloyds, VW, American Airlines, P&G, Chevron, ExxonMobil and a few others. As you can see, busy might be an understatement.
So what's happened so far:
ā”Tesla goes up another gear ā”
Tesla Q2 results were actually published on Monday (rather than Wednesday), as initially scheduled.
Anyways, Tesla reported $1.1 billion profit for Q2 2021 despite the global semiconductor shortage mainly thanks to its efforts to rewrite the software code of processors in its Electric Vehicles (EV). Conversely, the semiconductor shortage negatively impacted other car companies, with Jaguar Land Rover having to temporarily shut down it factories and production delays for both Renault and Honda. Tesla went into overdrive by setting a šproduction record, with the delivery of close to 2ļøā£0ļøā£0ļøā£,0ļøā£0ļøā£0ļøā£ vehicles within the last quarter, achieving an operating margin of 11% and exceeded $1bn (GAAP) net income for the very first time š¤.
